L.K.A. Championship Show 2017 Critique

Many thanks to the L.K.A. committee for coping with difficulties on the Sunday morning after a downfall of overnight snow. It was disappointing that so many exhibitors were unable to show their dogs but it was better to stay safe. However the hounds I had to judge were of good quality and I thank those for making the journey and home safely home again.

MINOR PUPPY DOG  4 (3 ABSENT)

1st Jansons Nixophel Camelian Red
Stood alone but a delightful puppy. Refined head dark eye, long neck, excellent texture coat, grand depth of chest. Straight legs and adequate rear angulation. Finished with long tail and neat feet.

PUPPY DOG  2 (0 ABSENT)

1st Peach's Kilbourne Shrike
So impressed by this young dog, he was so sound and I found nothing to dislike about him, Gorgeous well balanced head, good eye shape and colour.  Strong neck into well laid shoulders.  Excellent length of rib and depth of chest. Superb quarters with good muscle, One I would love to own and he was handled so well, moving at correct pace. Deserved to be awarded the Res. CC.

JUNIOR 1 (1 ABSENT)

POST GRADUATE DOG  4 (4 ABSENT)

LIMIT DOG  2 (1 ABSENT)

1st Purseglove’s Stranwith Roag
Most pleasing 3 year old. Grand depth of chest with good spring of rib. In excellent body and muscular condition. Correct front assembly. Attractive masculine head with no coarseness, nice eye and ears.

OPEN DOG  5 (2 ABSENT)

1st Grimshaw’s Greyflax the Jazz Singer to Jamalison
Strong upstanding dog. Slightly heavier than my usual type but I found him so well balanced. With a lovely outline on the move and on the stack. Pleasing head befitting his body. Really deep chest to elbows. Good topline with slight rise, before good fallaway. Well muscled and angled rear, long tail. Strong front legs and good feet. Excellent on the move showing plenty of reach and drive. Well deserved his first CC.

2nd Finnett and Heathcote Ch Hyndsight Desperado
Another male in very good condition and a worthy winner. Great depth of chest, strong in bone and muscle. Admired his head and expression with nice dark eye. Excellent shoulder, front angles and forelegs. A top player.

3rd Constantine’s The Forrester

MINOR PUPPY BITCH  6 (3 ABSENT)

1st  Abbott and Constantine’s Kaleginy Magnolia Steel
What a super little girl, had all the essentials at this age. Pretty good, good ear flaps, long neck into well laid shoulders. Correct amount of weight and bone. Sympathetically handled by young handler, getting good rapport on the move. Hope she continues to do well.

2nd Jansons’ Nixophel Crystal Rose
More refined than 1st with more filling out to do. However she had a good depth of chest and a back of good length, nicely falling away to low set long tail. Adequate rear angulation.
